Clinical Sample Operations Lead
To apply, send a CV and a brief note of interest to sadik@earlymarker.bio.
Early Marker is an early-stage Dallas biotech developing blood-based liquid biopsy assays for the early detection of cancer. We work closely with partner clinics and research labs at UT Southwestern and across the DFW area.
We are hiring our Clinical Sample Operations Lead, the founding operations role at the company, based at BioLabs at Pegasus Park. You will run Early Marker's biospecimen operations: clinic-side collection, preanalytical processing, biobanking, and hand-off to downstream sequencing. You will also be our operational liaison with clinical partners across UTSW and DFW.
Responsibilities
- Collect and transport blood samples from partner clinics, including phlebotomy where appropriate and pickup of pre-drawn samples elsewhere
- Whole blood preanalytical processing and biobanking under standardized SOPs, including nucleic acid extraction from blood-derived fractions
- Coordinate sample collection logistics across multiple partner studies, spanning cancer cohorts and healthy controls
- Manage IRB documentation, consenting workflows, protocol amendments, and multi-site sample tracking
- Hand off samples to genomics and biomarker cores for downstream sequencing
- Build and maintain SOPs, QC records, and biorepository documentation as the company grows toward CLIA certification, under the oversight of a fractional CLIA Laboratory Director
Background we are looking for
- BS in molecular biology, biochemistry, biology, or a related field
- 3 to 7 years of experience in a clinical research, molecular diagnostics, or translational laboratory
- Hands-on experience with whole blood preanalytical processing and biobanking, including venipuncture, centrifugation-based fractionation, nucleic acid extraction, and minus 80°C biorepository workflows
- Phlebotomy certification, or willingness to certify within the first 90 days
- Track record of working under IRB-approved protocols, including consenting and multi-site sample tracking
- Comfortable operating inside an academic medical center; prior UTSW, Baylor, MD Anderson, or Houston Methodist experience is a strong plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication; you will be the company's day-to-day point of contact for clinical collaborators and patients
Helpful, not required
- MB(ASCP) certification or equivalent
- Prior work inside a CLIA-certified laboratory
- Familiarity with cfDNA, ctDNA, or other cell-free analyte workflows
What this role offers
This is the foundational operations seat at Early Marker. You will define how every patient sample the company ever processes is collected, handled, tracked, and qualified. As the company moves toward CLIA certification and eventual LDT validation, this role grows with the lab.
Compensation will be based on experience and skillset.
